It’s almost that time…Christmas lists are being made and Michael Buble’s music is being played. But how can you check off your festive shopping when most of the shops are closed? Amber-Louise Large has some tips… 

With lockdown 2.0 meaning only essential stores can stay open in November, many independent shops across London and Surrey have started offering click and collect and some offer delivery, too. Here are just some of the independent stores you can still buy from during lockdown – so you can support small businesses and spoil your loved ones (or yourself!) this Christmas.

Alligator Pear, Tadworth

This gorgeous store is offering click and collect and delivery, with all orders sent the next working day. You’re sure to find some great gifts for all, with everything from candles and clothes to beauty and homeware.

Positively Putney

The Business Improvement District has launched a new website where shoppers can order online from Putney stores and their items can be delivered if they live within one mile of the town centre. Shops include Chez Stephan where you can get fine wine, The Kettle Shed where you can find gorgeous tea blends and The Evolution where you can purchase Eco and zero waste products.

Elys, Wimbledon

The popular department store is ready for shoppers with its online offering where you can currently shop for home, gifts and beauty, with accessories coming soon.

Blabar Nordic Living, Putney

Make your home that little bit more Hygge this year with some festive goodies from Blabar. Browse through their festive offerings, from richly scented candles to those finishing touches for the tree, before picking up in store when time allows.

Take Time, London

The gorgeous Wimbledon Village boutique is handily offering its polishes available for click and collect, as well as soak-off kits.

Clapham Junction stores

The Clapham Junction Business Improvement District (BID) is showcasing the great stores in the area on its website where you can pick up great gifts this Christmas for click and collect or delivery. There’s also details of special offers.

Lark, multiple locations in south west London

Find everything from jewellery, homeware and books to kids’ items at Lark. They have shops in Balham, Earlsfield, Tooting, Streatham, Herne Hill and Wimbledon. A family-run business, they support local vendors. Items can be ordered online and either delivered or picked up using click and collect.


Fayre and Square, Wimbledon

The Fayre and Square store is a community shop where special artisan gifts are sold and training placements are offered to individuals with perceived barriers to employment. Such barriers could include physical or learning difficulties or mental health challenges. You can still shop from Fayre and Square, just email them or check out their social media pages to arrange.

Seekology, Richmond

The Seekology store at Bhuti in Richmond features over 20 independent brands offering candles, creams, serums and other beauty and wellness gifts. Local delivery is available in Richmond or click and collect can be organised over email.

Mia Wood, Richmond

Mia Wood sells a diverse range of gifts for anyone in the family. They stock homeware, accessories, bath and body products and gorgeous toys for children. Some items are click and collect only but there is also a delivery option for other products.

NappyValleyNet Christmas Market

Nappy Valley have announced the launch of their Christmas Marketplace, displaying more than 40 local businesses selling their goods, many with fab discounts.

The Collecterie, Richmond

The Collecterie offers an eclectic mix of homeware, stationary and antiques. It is currently offering free local delivery and a click and collect service. It will also be putting its Christmas window on display very soon for passers-by to enjoy!

Kingston shopping

The town centre BID Kingston First has a list on its website of how to buy local for the festive season.

Two Ducks, Woking

Two Ducks offers a varied range of fashion, accessories, homeware and gifts. Established in 2013, it offers delivery and click and collect options. Click and collect orders placed by 11am can be picked up on the same day.

Savanna Gift Shop, Windlesham

Savannah sells cards, candles, jewellery, gifts and much more. This lovely little shop has just started a call and collect service. Buyers can visit the Savannah Facebook page where items are posted with prices and then contact the shop via phone, email facebook or post an old fashioned note through the door to arrange purchases and pick ups.

Pip and Gray, Cobham

Pip and Gray is a boutique clothing and gift shop running a similar call and collect service. Shoppers are encouraged to check out the store’s stock on its Instagram page and either DM or email in an order to arrange a click and collect service if they see something they like.

Love Wimbledon

Glug Wines, Putney

Get the wine cellar topped up in preparation for the festive season with this independent wine merchants Upper Richmond Rd store. Browse through their liquid offerings, which include craft beers, and bring something special to the cheeseboard this year with their tasty options.
