Lucy Kane chats to award-winning children’s author Chris Riddell, before his virtual appearance at Barnes Children’s Literature Festival – at home

Chris Riddell will be zooming into Barnes Children’s Literature Festival this weekend for a live virtual appearance. The award-winning children’s author is best known for his Goth Girl and Ottoline series, books inspired by telling bed time stories to his own daughter. He will be drawing illustrations and talking about his books to audiences tuning in from Barnes and across SW London. Chris talks to Lucy Kane about the inspiration behind his much-loved stories and gives advice to aspiring young authors.
Plus there are a host of top authors who will be appearing virtually this weekend including; Treehouse author Andy Griffiths, children’s laureate Cressida Cowell and Diary of a Young Naturalist author and social media sensation Dara McAnulty. Lauren Child and illustrator Axel Scheffler will be celebrating the anniversary of Judith Kerr’s birthday live on Sunday 14th and will be followed by a reading of The Tiger Who Came To Tea. In the afternoon, Harry Potter fans can meet playwright Jack Thorne who collaborated with J K Rowling on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
