Alex Harvey

I have been coaching tennis for over twenty years, coaching over 15,000 players. I feel very lucky to have found a vocation that I love. As a player most notably, I made it to the Midland Bank national finals in Nottingham and battled my way to the semi-finals of the Hilton Head $25,000 Championships in South Carolina, USA.

With regards to coaching, I was Head Coach of the Mark Warner Tennis Centre Lakitira in Greece when it was voted no.1 tennis centre in the Med by ACE tennis magazine, a senior pro at the Roehampton club, Head Coach of the renowned Wimbledon club, and Professional coach at the National Tennis Centre. I’m passionate about players’ enjoyment and technical improvement; be them an adult improver or a junior looking to become a professional.

Certified LTA Senior Performance Coach, RPT Director, PTR professional, USTA Master Professional.

Beatha Rice

I have been playing tennis for as long as I remember. I left school at 13 to pursue a career in tennis, training full-time at Sutton Tennis Academy and later creating a full-time program with senior coaches from the Kent County team. In the competitive world I made it to the top 5 in Kent for U18 women and ladies draws.

After competing competitively, I decided to become a tennis coach and work within my passion. Since then, I have worked for over 5 years for several excellent programs that have been based at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, including Annabel Croft Tennis Academy, and I’ve been the private coach for high performance tennis players and wheelchair tennis players, including Lauren Jones.

I am a highly competent and trustworthy coach and happy to talk to parents and communicate the development of their child. Alex and I work together to create and deliver the highest quality program we can put together, offering the best of Barnes tennis coaching.

Testimonials

“It has been a process that our entire family will cherish for life as Alex managed to install in my son not only core tennis foundation skills with Ahtennis’ Barnes tennis coaching, but the confidence that a tennis player needs in order to believe in himself to progress.”

“Their coaches assessed what level our son is at 9.5 years after a very intensive training programme with Alex. Their report was very good, and our son was praised mostly for his technical skills and correct technique used on the main shots. Next year we spent a week at Rafa Nadal’s Academy which he truly enjoyed, and it cemented our belief that he will need to take his tennis further. Having been to both of these World class facilities we strongly believe Alex has technically been the best coach we have come across.” Rodica, mother of Philip.

“Alex Harvey coaches my son Toran Tserkezis, who is 10 years old. He started training our son at the age of 7. Toran, under his training, has won a number of Grade 3, 4 and 5 9U tournaments, and he recently won the 9U Surrey Country Championships in August 2019. Alex is an amazing coach who understands our son, who is not the easiest child to train. Alex is brilliant in concentrating on the technical details, which most coaches miss. He also concentrates on developing their mental strength in competitions and in general. We strongly recommend Alex as a tennis coach and generally as an all-round coach of fantastic benefit.” Thanos Tserkezis, father of Toran.
