Tell us a bit about your new business.

Business Divas is a new venture set up by myself and Briony Roberts who has a similar business background to myself.  We aim to cover a gap in the market for small/new businesses to help them grow strategically, without the normal hefty monthly retainer or long-term contract.

Business background.

Following a career in advertising and media sales, I started my own business in a friend’s postroom with NO clients in 1999, and built the business turnover to £3.5 million within 5 years.

How did you get into your chosen career and why?

It was either going to be music or advertising, and advertising won – a good decision!

What do you enjoy most about what you do?  Making something happen.  Starting with a blank sheet of paper and generating results.

What have been the high, and low, points of your career to date?  High – winning a huge piece of business against 11 other larger more established businesses. Low – having to make people redundant during the 2008 crash.

What makes your business stand out?

Our passion, commitment, determination, and a hands-on, always available approach.

Is there a secret to your success?

Being very driven, and a people person, not afraid of hard work, putting in extra hours.

What do your clients value most about your services?

Honesty, integrity, creative thinking – ability to problem solve, delivering results.

What have been your best business decisions in the last few years?Taking on a non-exec.  Buying the freehold of an office.  Winding up a business solvently.  Investing in buy to let properties.

What can you offer clients that competitors can’t?

Flexibility, understanding and history of running a business, low overheads, low maintenance!

What is the most rewarding part of your work?

Being able to make a positive difference!  Working with entrepreneurs and helping them expand their business.
