LUCIANO BY GINO D’ACAMPO: SUMPTUOUS ITALIAN DINING ON THE STRAND

LUCIANO BY GINO D’ACAMPO: SUMPTUOUS ITALIAN DINING ON THE STRAND

In the heart of the West End, we arrived at Luciano by Gino D’Acampo on a fresh summer’s evening and there was a great buzz and energy to the place.

After being seated, we were treated to a watermelon spicy margarita which was delicious and we perused the extensive Italian menu, which had every single Italian culinary experience one could wish for!

From bruschetta, to burrata, to pastas, pizzas, and then meat from the grill and a wide selection of delicious fish – there really is everything any Italian food lover could dream of.

Hmmm where to start… we opted for mixed antipasti to share which was plentiful and delectable.

The antipasti trolley had Parma ham, bresaola, Napoli buffalo mozzarella, Percorino Romano, buffalo ricotta, not to mention chargrilled artichokes and a selection of baked Italian breads.

The food was fresh and flavoursome and could have been lifted off a rustic table in Tuscany and transported straight to our table.

Stunning riverside views and delicious seafood

For main courses we opted for steaks – one beef and one tuna. Perfectly cooked and served with green beans, tomatoes and olives, the dishes were tender and tasty.

What to finish with but a tiramisu of course… Light, creamy and balanced, this coffee flavoured Italian staple can easily taste too rich or sickly, but this one was neither.

All in all a fabulous evening, with brilliant decor and atmosphere, after a recent interiors refresh.

This large restaurant in the ME hotel on The Strand, feels intimate and relaxed, despite its size.

There is a contemporary yet luxurious feel to the dining, with food served all day, from lunch, dinner, as well as drinks til late.

Members of staff are relaxed and friendly and children are  warmly welcomed.

This is Gino D’Acampo’s first Luciano restaurant and the time and thought that he has taken with his recent menu planning for its reopening is evident.
