ight at the start of the COVID 19 pandemic, we were forced to close our shop and catering business, Masters. Joe (my husband) and I, like you, stood outside our home with our children “clapping for our carers” every Thursday in awe of the amazing work that all NHS staff and care workers had been doing, and were continuing to do during the pandemic. We wished that we could help.

Soon after that, we were contacted by a consultant friend at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital who said that the frontline night staff were working terribly long hours, were exhausted and very worried about becoming ill. The supermarket shelves were empty, and the canteens closed by the time they were finishing their shifts. There were so many campaigns to help those staff working during the day, but none for those working at night so we decided to do something to help them and to say thank you in a way that we knew best: with food.

We decided to begin preparing and delivering delicious, healthy and nutritious meals directly to the ITU and HDU nightshift Covid wards, initially funding them ourselves; however, we were then contacted by two further hospitals so we decided that to continue providing meals to the wonderful health care workers, we had to step up. We therefore setup a GoFundMe page. Over the following months, we raised in excess of £13k and provided over 5,000 meals on a ‘not-for-profit’ basis.

The feedback received from the staff was overwhelmingly positive; so, in a bid to keep our staff employed, and stop our business from folding, we have launched a brand-new home delivery food service. We understand that finding time to go shopping and preparing healthy meals can be a struggle especially if you have to cook for a family, are studying or working from home. Many succumb to the ease of the takeaway but succumb no longer!

Our meals can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and are suitable for home-freezing.
