Hina Chaudhry – Acquastone

Hina from Acquastone architectural interiors talks about building an interiors business with social purpose in mind from day one

Having worked as the only female at board level for a complex group of companies in the Middle East, Hina is known for her careful attention to detail and ability to find solutions to complex problems using a very analytical approach. Starting out with a career in advertising, she saw a great opportunity when joining a small IT recruitment business with a true entrepreneurial culture which today has grown to become a successful multi-brand model with offices worldwide. She believes she is very fortunate; being part of this journey at a very young age has definitely influenced her own self-development in business.

What is your current business all about?

Acquastone is a design-led business that works with architects, interior designers, property developers and contractors to design and source surface finishes, kitchens and bathrooms for projects. Our vision for the business is what inspires me every day, to build a business based around a social purpose – using a percentage of profits to fund water well projects and other programs.

What do you enjoy most about what you do every day?

The satisfaction the team gets when we help clients create beautiful spaces using some absolutely stunning materials is incredible; encouraging clients to make bolder design choices is great.

What do you find to be most rewarding about your work?

Right now we are working on a hospitality project in Oxford – a boutique hotel, high-end residential developments and some large residential private homes for clients. This all contributes towards our vision, which is truly rewarding. If all businesses started to work like this the world would become a very different place.

What do clients most value about your services?

Our teams knowledge of the tile, bathroom and kitchen industry, not just from a design perspective but the ability to understand all the materials from a technical and installation aspect.

What are your plans for the future?

There are many live projects in the UK and clients use the internet at some point to research products. We intend to use technology and our knowledge of manufacturers in the industry to bridge the gap between great design and sourcing beautiful material for projects.
