Puffins on Clapham Manor Street

Local street art

This Is Clapham have installed another mural by Rob at Aspire Artwork, this time on Clapham Manor Street. The work shows the Atlantic puffin, a declining species in Europe. The red symbolises the fact they are on the BTO and ICUN red list for endangered species. According to the UN the decline of the species is related to the lack of food for the birds due to the increased temperature in the sea.

Rob said of the piece: “I hope you like the design and I think the ambiguity of the red could also be perceived as love, community and togetherness, with the embrace of the two birds looking quite special.”

Aspire Artwork have previously done a similarly themed mural on Voltaire Road, highlighting plastic pollution in the oceans and waterways.
