Terry Buckland

Terry Buckland, a tribute

John Hawks, founding director of Merton Abbey Mills, pays tribute to Terry Buckland

All at Merton Abbey Mills are greatly saddened by Terry’s untimely death at 59.  From 2005, his company Office Estates Ltd has been the owner of Merton Abbey Mills,  the picturesque group of historic buildings that have been Time & Leisure’s happy home for over 20 years.

Terry was no ordinary landlord. An unassuming, caring and ever-approachable man  –  “Terry” to everyone  –  his approach to the business was always hands-on, practical and enthusiastic.  His years at ‘The Mills’ have been notable, not just for his dedication to the care of a unique heritage site, but for his positive support and encouragement of small businesses, new enterprises, and a flourishing venue for all kinds of artistic activity.

Terry was proud of Merton Abbey Mills, and of having created both employment and entertainment there for many local people.  He truly had the personal touch, and everyone who had dealings with him will miss him and remember him with great affection.
