Inclusive Education For All

Hall School Wimbledon’s Head, Graeme Delaney, tells us about the independent co-educational school for pupils aged 4-16

We believe at Hall School Wimbledon that anything is possible and that every pupil must engage fully in his or her learning. We are an inclusive school, where every pupil is celebrated for who he or she is. Our pupils have an incredibly broad range of achievements in academia and sports, music and dance, art and literature. We pride ourselves on spotting and nurturing the talents of all our pupils.

Every child is recognised as an individual at Hall School Wimbledon – our human scale and intimate campus in the heart of Wimbledon foster a relaxed, modern informality, although natural, old-fashioned good manners and respect are still emphasised. Pastoral care is central to what we do; every pupil has a class teacher and head of year, while senior pupils also have a personal tutor to provide holistic guidance on their studies and their onward journey.

From the school’s earliest days, we have sought to think differently about education without forgetting the basics of learning and teaching. In 2019, we continue to build on that innovation. Throughout the school we offer an exciting and broad curriculum to every single child in our care. By the time pupils leave us, we aim to have nurtured confident, empowered and globally-minded young people who are equipped to lead society through the challenges of our times.

Over the next 18 months, there are plans for a major development of the school, with more classrooms, a more enhanced IT system through the whole school, and major work to our playing fields, courts and pavilion, creating a drama studio and concert room, as well as kitchens for cookery lessons and allotments for gardening, next to the forest trail. Plans are also underway to take the school through from two to 18 with additional sites for a nursery and sixth form.

With a thoughtful balance between academic teaching and co-curricular activities, supported with personalised pastoral care, Hall School Wimbledon aim to create a school where pupils’ aspirations have no boundaries.
