Kingston Business Excellence Awards 2019

The borough’s best are celebrated as an amazing array of entrepreneurs and businesses recognised

Contenders for the Kingston Business Excellence Awards 2019 gathered at a black-tie dinner on Ravens Ait to find out who had won the coveted gongs across a wide range of categories. A record number of entries were received this year, with winners selected after a rigorous judging process including written entries, personal interviews and mystery shoppers.

Founded and organised by partners Kingston Council, Kingston Chamber of Commerce and Kingston First, the awards highlight the talent and skills within the borough. Winners for 2019 included The White House Nursing Home, Spark Joy London, Fortunella Limited, CreateLondon Media, and Holland Hahn & Wills. Genuine Solutions triumphed in three categories. Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness won ‘Best Charity or Social Enterprise’ while 7000 Jars of Beer was voted by the public as the winner of ‘Love Your Local Retailer’.

Innovative connectivity company, Pangea Connected, was named Kingston’s ‘Business of the Year’ and its founder Dan Cunliffe was named ‘Business Entrepreneur of the Year’.
Councillor Liz Green, Leader of Kingston Council, said: “Congratulations to all of the 2019 Business Awards winners and many thanks to the partners and sponsors for making the awards happen.”

Willmott Dixon, which is currently finishing work on Kingston University’s new landmark Town House building, was headline sponsor for the event. CNM Estates, Kingston University, Kingston College, The HR Dept and McDonalds were also sponsors, with Time & Leisure proud media partners, providing coverage leading up to the event and live updates on social media on the night itself.

Willmott Dixon’s New Business manager, Stephen Parker, said: “We were delighted to be part of this judging process. Along the way, we have come across many fantastic likeminded businesses. Whether they are individual startups, SMEs or even large international companies, for us, it wasn’t about the obvious best, but companies that demonstrate their journey, which best harnesses collaboration and innovation to make a difference to Kingston.”
