A big daddy of loft conversions

A big daddy of loft conversions

With many people looking to expand their living space, LMB Group share with us this super spacious loft conversion.

The couple who own this London property wanted a luxurious space to call their own. With their elderly parents starting to stay with them more frequently and possibly moving in at some point, they have achieved that and more. Now, complete with walk-in wardrobe and en-suite they have a grown-up space where they won’t be feeling childish any time soon.

This project really maximised the roof space in this property by using a double hip-to-gable and rear dormer. Juliette doors were added as well as a window to the south-facing garden. With such a large floor space VELUX roof lights were added to balance the light throughout.

The sleek, spacious and modern bathroom suite and tiles, also fitted by LMB Group, were chosen by the couple to complement their chosen contemporary and high spec décor. A glass rail at the Juliette doors completes the modern and luxurious look.

The outside of this huge loft conversion is finished in k-rend, a silicone based render, to match the rest of the property. Other loft conversion finishes can include tiles or occasionally cladding but this gave a seamless finish to the exterior which was in keeping with the pre-existing home.

Lee Murphy, Managing Director, LMB Group Ltd said: “This loft conversion was part of a wider home renovation for this couple. By working closely with them, as we do with all our clients, it was great to see this huge loft space come together the way they wanted. We really love to see client’s enjoying the results of our skills”.

Three things to take inspiration from this conversion to your own:

  1. Think about your light source. Many lofts become dual aspect as they stretch the width, length, or both, of your home. Along with a lot of floor space, that’s a lot of potential for sighting windows, portholes, gables or VELUX windows of different designs.
  2. Plan what you want to use the space for. A loft conversion is a blank canvas and partition walls can be placed almost anywhere. There’s so much scope for what you can do… the world, sorry, the loft, is your oyster.
  3. Go wild with your décor. Once you have planned your space and received drawings from LMB’s architect, it’s great to start planning your overall look and finish. It will help when it comes to choosing any fixtures and fittings in the build process, or tiles and bathroom suites should you be adding a bathroom or en-suite to your loft.
