Experience the ‘real’ Downton Abbey
The Four Seasons Hampshire has a luxury treat for Downton Abbey fans
For fans of Downtown Abbey, there is an ultra-luxe experience where you can go on a private guided tour of Highclere Castle, where it was all filmed. Guests of Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire will be shown around by the estate’s current owner, the 8th Countess of Carnarvon, revealing insights on life as the “real” Lady Grantham. Afterwards, you can explore the gardens with Highclere’s Head Gardener before taking afternoon tea privately served in one of the castle’s State Rooms. Following a chauffeur-driven round trip to Highclere Castle in a vintage Rolls-Royce, guests will return to the hotel’s Royal Suite, where their very own state banquet will be set in the suite’s dining room for a four-course dinner personally prepared by Executive Chef Paolo Bellini using original Highclere recipes and giving guests a taster of how dinner might have been in the era of Downton Abbey. The experience costs £22,500 for two for two nights. Highclere Castle is also open to the public on select dates, from £17. Mews rooms at the Four Seasons, from £375 per night.
