Destination Schools

As a prep school, we are keenly attuned to ensuring that our children are readied for the next chapter. Within 11+ and 13+ entry, TPS pupils achieve great success, whether academic, sporting or extra-curricular, moving on to excellent independent secondary schools, including Hampton, Kingston Grammar, Lady Eleanor Holles, Sir William Perkins’s School, Surbiton High and St George’s, Weybridge, regularly achieving academic, sporting, art and all-rounder scholarships. We are fully committed to working in partnership with our parents so that our pupils leave TPS as happy, confident, responsible and well-rounded individuals.

Facilities

Located in Hampton, close to Bushy Park and the River Thames, we are based in the listed Beveree building.  Since moving here in 1992 from Twickenham Green, we have grown substantially, adding a large and welcoming purpose- built Pre-Prep, a new Sports Hall, Dining Room, a Music and Drama Centre and the addition of some exciting outside spaces including an amphitheatre, adventure playground and a nature trail.

The past year has seen a substantial addition to our premises, ‘The Hub’, located at 51 High Street in Hampton. This fantastic new facility has really enhanced our Art and Design facilities and provided additional bright and modern classrooms for our Senior boys. The new Art and DT department has a spacious teaching area and specialist DT equipment, used weekly by children from Year 3 upwards.  For our Senior Prep it also houses our digital media suite, including broadcast cameras and an editing station.

Co-Curricular

Strong emphasis is placed on participation by all in sporting, musical and extra-curricular activities. The school plays a wide range of sports and through our partnership with Kempton Cricket Club we provide 10 acres of dedicated sporting facilities for rugby, football, cricket and athletics. The girls also play netball, hockey and tennis, squash and swimming are also part of the sporting curriculum. All our pupils, from Year 3 upwards, have the opportunity to represent TPS and compete in fixtures with local schools.

Music and drama play a large part in the school with full-scale productions and concerts annually involving all pupils. We have a very active and popular school choir, who recently enjoyed performing at the Royal Albert Hall for the Barnardo’s Charity children’s concert. A wide range of individual instrumental lessons are also offered, taught by visiting specialists, with ensemble groups rehearsing and playing together weekly.

The school has built up a formidable reputation as a centre for excellence in thinking skills and chess. Throughout the school, pupils are taught strategic thinking skills and emotional intelligence using Think Tank (Mind Lab) – developing critical thinking, social and emotional skills and is an exciting programme within the curriculum.

There are also many extra-curricular clubs during and after school to choose from, including coding, dance, chess, Art and DT, languages, Lamda, fencing, gymnastics and many sports options.
