Royal High School Bath provides an outstanding, girl-centred, contemporary education in the beautiful city of Bath.

We’re proud to be the only boarding school in the Girls’ Day School Trust, the leading network of independent girls’ schools in the UK.

As a GDST school, we specialise in girls’ education and preparing our students to succeed in today’s fast-paced world. Our new £2m Steinway Music School, newly renovated boarding houses and brand new art block highlight our commitment to our students’ success. Whether our girls go on to be a music producer, a civil engineer or a CEO, we support each and every one with their individual ambitions.

Mrs Kate Reynolds, Head of School, said: “Girls’ schools have a very important role to play in enabling young women to reach their full potential and make their mark on the world. The balance of a nurturing yet challenging school environment is what makes us so successful here at Royal High. Our girls are treated as individuals and are inspired to be successful young women of the future.”

Royal High School boasts exceptional academic results and our girls are adventurous in both their thinking and their ambitions. With a reputation as supportive and stimulating, our girls realise new talents, fulfil their potential and go on to have bright futures.

Student wellbeing is a key priority for Royal High School Bath, and the school’s pastoral care provision aims to nurture each student throughout their academic career, making sure every girl has a positive experience. Students have access to in-house counselling, as well as a wellbeing coordinator who is on hand to listen and support. The Pastoral Hub is a new development for September, which includes ‘The Hive’, a peaceful area for quiet reflection, a contemplation room and quiet study zone. All students from Years 8-11 have their own dedicated common rooms, built to the WELL standards.

We’re the only school in Bath to offer our Sixth Form girls a choice of A-level and International Baccalaureate pathways. They get the choice to carve out their own exciting futures and we support them on their way. In 2021 IB results, students achieved a total average point score of 40/45 and four students achieved top marks of 45/45. In A Levels, 98.3% students achieved A*-C grades. Leavers’ destinations are as varied as the subjects students choose to study with destinations including Cardiff, UCL and Birmingham. STEM and Health subjects are always well represented with 28% of students going on to study related subjects. Languages are also a strength with 16% of students going on to study a range of language related degrees in 2021. Two students will study Mandarin and German at Oxford University.

Students benefit from the extensive variety of co-curricular activities available to them, which enrich their learning outside of the classroom. The co-curricular programme, RHS Active, aims to give students the opportunity to try new things, develop new skills and explore their passions. The programme covers a wide range of activities and clubs including music, sport, drama and performing arts, Greek and Roman mythology, Philosophy and much more.

We’re proud to offer our students the option of full, weekly and flexible boarding to suit their needs. Our boarding houses are home to girls from across the UK, and globally, making a truly diverse learning institution. We make sure our boarders are part of a welcoming community with an exciting evening and weekend activities programme to enjoy.

Our School House is home to boarders aged 11-16 years and is located in our stunning neo-Gothic main building. With spacious common rooms, quiet study areas and fashionable mezzanine bedrooms, our girls are supported both academically and pastorally. Gloucester House offers Sixth Formers an exclusive space to socialise, study and enjoy their home from home. Here, girls benefit from having more independence, while still remaining an integral part of our school community.
