HALLIFORD SCHOOL IS A WARM-HEARTED SCHOOL FOUNDED ON STRONG FAMILY VALUES WHERE WE ARE PROUD TO KNOW AND BE RESPECTFUL OF EVERY STUDENT AS AN INDIVIDUAL. OUR THEME ‘COME AS YOU ARE. GO AS ALL YOU CAN BE’ PERFECTLY ENCAPSULATES OUR MISSION TO ENCOURAGE AND SUPPORT HALLIFORDIANS TO FLOURISH AND BECOME THE BEST VERSION OF THEMSELVES THAT THEY CAN POSSIBLY BE.

HEAD’S WELCOME

To truly understand the distinctive culture and ethos of Halliford School, we warmly invite you to visit us. Some things matter that little bit more to us. It matters that our families trust us with their most precious asset. It matters that our boys feel excitement and belonging when they put on their blazer and that Hallifordians go on to be the best they can be.

Our boys join us for their seven-year journey from 11 to 18, and we warmly welcome girls to join our co-educational Sixth Form, which provides our senior students with the opportunities to excel in a more independent environment. Rated by ISI as ‘Excellent in all areas’ in December 2022, Halliford is an incredible community to belong to and spend part of their only childhood.

Our pursuit of excellence is characterised by academic ambition balanced with academic sensitivity. We inspire Hallifordians within a community founded on exceptional teaching and learning, outstanding pastoral care and first-class sporting, cultural and co-curricular opportunities. To browse a person’s past and read Halliford School should mean something, and it does.

SIXTH FORM

The Halliford School Sixth Form is an environment that fosters aspirational and forward-thinking men and women who seek to make a positive contribution to their community. We firmly believe that a co-educational environment in Sixth Form provides the best preparation for later life, both at university and beyond. During these most important two years of your school journey, our students will study a combination of three or four A Levels, which are complemented with a range of academic, cultural, and charitable enrichment opportunities to ensure you leave Halliford ready to embrace what the world has to offer, and ready to meet any challenges that university or the wider world of work may bring.

PASTORAL CARE

Renowned for our outstanding pastoral care, we work hard to create a community where our students can come together, where they are encouraged to flourish, where they can feel safe and comfortable, confident and proud, stimulated and inspired and, most of all, happy.

ACADEMIC RESULTS

We are proud that our students achieve excellent results year on year. In 2023, our GCSE students secured another set of excellent results with 96% of all examinations at a Grade 4 or higher. At A Level, we secured a 99% pass rate with over half of all grades at A* – B. This is a remarkable achievement with 87% of our students obtaining a place at their first or second-choice university last year.

FACILITIES

The School has seen continued expansion in recent years and has an impressive array of facilities, including a dedicated theatre, classroom blocks, technology building, multi-purpose sports hall, gymnasium and sports pitches, both at school and on a nearby separate site. Over the last few years, we have invested heavily in new facilities within the School, including a new state-of-the-art Sixth Form Study Centre, IT suites, two new Science Laboratories and an iMac music composition suite. The Woodward Building, which was opened in November 2021 by our Chair of Governors, Mr Ken Woodward, contains an impressive Learning Resource Centre on the ground floor and six spacious new classrooms and associated facilities on the first and second floors. The next phase of development sees a new dining hall and Matron’s block, including a medical room and student welfare suite.

CO-CURRICULAR

At Halliford School, we pride ourselves on our co-curricular offering, with an extensive range of clubs and activities running each week from Duke of Edinburgh to Cookery Club, Climbing Club to Dungeons and Dragons, and from Rock Band to Podcast Club. This, alongside our teaching, enables students to become the best version of themselves that they can possibly be.

Co-curricular activities and sports play a significant role in the life of each student and of the School as a whole. The policy of the School is that every student should be involved in at least two co-curricular or sporting activities each week. In practice, most are involved in many more.
