Grabbing January in both hands!

We just love everything about Christmas; family time, presents and above all over indulgence.

Well who doesn’t like a cheeky glass of mulled wine, a chunk of stilton cheese and some leftover turkey topped off with copious amounts of celebration chocolates? It always feels great at the time, but when you wake up on New Year’s Day, the guilt sets in and your belly pops out (well, Michael’s does at least).

Now we are not a couple obsessed by what we eat, especially as we work in media, (in fact some may argue we should take greater care), but at the end of the day we believe; to live well you have to eat well…in moderation.

So 2014 is here and one of our goals is to get fit and be healthy. I’ve always liked fitness, but over the last couple of years I’ve been giving birth to our children and looking after the home, so there hasn’t been time to get into the gym. My husband has never really been interested in regular exercise and by his own admission; he’s a little bit lazy. So we are grabbing January with both hands and are determined not to be one of those people who sign up to the gym and never go. We are members of our local Virgin Active and will attend! Michael will also be getting on his bike come rain or sleet and I am going to start pounding the streets with a goal to complete the Great North Run for the sixth time.

Don’t get me wrong, it’ll be hard work, but we want to feel good and when you feel good you simply achieve more. If you start as you mean to go on, here’s hoping 2014 will be a productive year. New Year, new you! That’s what it’s all about. Setting your mind to something and doing it. Good luck to us all.
